Guide to the 3 on-site hotels at Hong Kong Disneyland

As a Disneyland fan, we’d definitely recommend you to stay on property to get the full immersive experience at Disneyland. There are three on-site hotels:

  • Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel

  • Disney Explorers Lodge

  • Disney’s Hollywood Hotel

Each one is uniquely different and I’d say it’s worth trying out all three of them just to experience the different environments. So far, we’ve stayed at the Disney Explorers Lodge twice and it’s been amazing!

All three hotels are located in the same area and it’s easily walkable from one to another, making it convenient to explore

Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel

The Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is the “classic” Disney hotel found at the various Disney resorts around the world. It has Victorian architecture and there is plenty of Disney theming, especially in the rooms.

It has Standard, Deluxe, Sea View, Sea View Room with Balcony, as well as club rooms and suites. The prices vary widely depending on the room type and dates you pick. You can check them out on the website here

We haven’t stayed at this hotel but did walk around and tour the hotel and facilities. It’s a beautiful hotel with a classic Disney look, and we even saw Mickey Mouse going around on a meet and greet (though it was on a Club floor).

We tried the afternoon tea at the Grand Salon, which is located at the lobby of the hotel, with seating inside the restaurant as well as “outside” at the lobby hall itself (an area blocked out for Grand Salon guests). It was an excellent experience as the food was delicious, and we were surrounded with the whole Disney vibes and atmosphere, with a beautiful view of Discovery Bay outside the grand tall hotel windows.

By the way, the Hong Kong Disneyland website has a 360-degree virtual tour where you can check out the grounds and rooms of the Disneyland Hotel here

Disney Explorers Lodge

The Disney Explorers Lodge hotel is themed after adventure and exploration. This can be seen in the design and theming around the hotel, with extensive use of wood and brown colours, making it feel like you’re in a safari. This is similar to the Animal Kingdom Lodge at Walt Disney World in Orlando.

This is the biggest of the three hotels in Hong Kong Disney resort with 750 rooms, and the newest, opening in 2017. The hotel grounds, lobby, and rooms all do feel fancy and sort of luxurious, and it was a very comfortable stay. We’ve stayed there twice, both times in rooms facing the sea. On clearer days, you can even see the Tsim Sha Tsui area.

We’ll be doing a more detailed post on our stay there.

Disney’s Hollywood Hotel

As the name of the hotel suggests, this hotel is Hollywood themed, with an art deco style and classic cars and even “roads” on the hotel grounds. The hotel was closed in 2020 during the COVID pandemic and during that time, there were renovations to the hotel. It re-opened looking all swanky and fresh in July 2023.

The Disney’s Hollywood Hotel is right beside the Disney Explorers Lodge so you can easily just walk across to check each other out and try the various restaurants.
